Go from a STEP file to a setup sheet the floor actually reads.

No manual, no CAM plugin, nothing to install. If you can export a STEP file, you already know enough to make your first setup sheet in about five minutes. Here's the whole thing, start to finish.

Step One

Upload your STEP file

In Fusion 360, Mastercam or NX CAM, select the components for the operation you're documenting — part, stock, fixture — and export them as a .step / .stp file. Then drag it anywhere onto the creator, or click Browse. The real geometry loads right in your browser.

  • One operation = one setup. Drop several STEP files to build a multi-setup project in one go.
  • No file handy? Sign in and click “Try a sample part” to load a ready-made 2-setup project and follow along.

Step Two

Set part zero — the WCS

Show the operator exactly where work zero is. Open the WCS tab, click the origin on the model, then a face to set Z (up) and an edge to set X. A clean red / green / blue triad with your G-code work offset (G54…G59) appears right on the part — and travels into every export.

  • Direction wrong? Flip X, Y or Z with one click — SetupBoard warns you if the axes end up left-handed.
  • Make it yours. Pick an arrow style and ★ favorite it, so your triad looks the same on every job.

Step Three

Pin dimensions & notes

Click features on the model to drop dimensions — linear, diameter, radius or angle — that snap to corners, hole centers and edges. Add notes exactly where they belong: clamp here, torque to spec, critical Ø. Everything sits on the real 3D part, in context, where it can't be misread.

  • Snapping does the aiming. Hover near a hole and it locks to the true center, not “close enough”.
  • Drag to place. Move a dimension line off the part so the sheet stays clean and readable.

Step Four

Attach your tools

Open the Tools tab and check the tools used in this setup. Build libraries by hand, or import a whole crib straight from Fusion 360, Mastercam or NX CAM — your tool numbers, descriptions and diameters come across and attach to the sheet with a checkbox. Tools always print in ascending T-number order.

  • Favorite your go-to cribs so they sit at the top of the picker, even with 30 libraries.
  • Import once, reuse everywhere — the same library attaches to every setup and every job.

Step Five

Export the setup sheet

Pick a template and export a clean, automatically-paginated PDF — every setup in one consistent document, ready to print or save. Or export the interactive operator view: a single offline .html file the floor can open and spin on a tablet, with every dimension, note and the WCS right there in 3D.

  • Printer turning the part black? Tick “Wireframe model” for crisp, ink-light line art.
  • Hand it off any way you like — print the PDF, or send the self-contained operator file. No SetupBoard account needed to open it.
